One of my favorite authors is going on a book tour. I had reviewed a pre publication edition and received an invite to hear Elizabeth Strout at Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC next week.
Unfortunately I will be out of town but Poetry and Prose has tickets at https://www.elizabethstrout.com/appearances
Her latest tale of the strong willed Olive Kitteridge, Olive, Again, brings us to her sunset years as she moves into assisted living. It pulls the thread of her family story back and forth intermingled with other characters that are less interesting. All in all it still a wonderful read taking Olive’s abrasive approach to life and softening it a bit as she faces the loneliness of old age.
Again finding strong female characters ( especially older ones) is not that easy.
